The retina is the inner and deep layer of the eye, which consists of millions of nerve sensors for receiving, recording and transmitting images entered into the eye. The sensors consist of two types of cone and cylinder, which are responsible for color vision and gray vision. The highest density of cone cells is in an area of the retina called the macula, which provides focused and primary vision. The retina covers about 75% of the inner surface of the eye, which forms the visual field. Due to the great importance of the retina in vision and communication with the outside world, a layer full of blood vessels called the choroid covers it and makes the retina full of blood vessels. In diseases such as diabetes (sugar disease) or high blood pressure, the blood vessels of the retina become brittle and bleed. Also, due to various reasons, a part of the retina is torn from its place, which is considered an eye emergency, because if it is not Performing surgery and restoring the removed part instead of itself, the blood supply of the removed part is stopped and vision in that area is gradually lost. Some retinal diseases are caused by aging, such as age-related macular degeneration. Accurate diagnosis of retinal diseases requires the use of advanced devices and equipment such as B Scan, angiography and OCT, which are used in Basir Ophthalmology Center, and advanced retina specialists of the center use their experience and knowledge to diagnose and treatment and surgery if needed.
